Born in Buffalo, New York, Douglas Babington has lived in Canada for the past 35 years. During much of that time he taught both literature and writing at Queen’s University in Ontario. Since moving to Montreal in 2013, Douglas has written several books. His initial collection of poems, which bears the pen name Dougie Shoals, is entitled To Carolyn: A Song of Schizophrenia (Les Editions Metropolis Bleu 2015). News From the Recent Quake, a bilingual collection in English and Modern Greek, also appeared in 2015 (Alfeios Books). Douglas’s most recent publication, Bivouac Prayers, is a non-fiction novel (Woodpecker Lane Press 2016). He has presented his work not only in Canada (Metropolis Bleu Festival, Montreal) but also in Greece (Literary Society, Thessaloniki) and the United States (Harvard University, Boston).
